Teen scooter rider doing 60mph in 20 zone sent woman 'flying into the air'

‘I’M NOT A MONSTER, ALTHOUGH I FEEL LIKE ONE RIGHT NOW’
A SCOOTER rider was driving at an “extraordinary” 60mph in a 20mph zone when he collided with a pedestrian, sending her “flying ten feet” into the air and leaving her in agony.
Aiden Williams, 18, who only bought his scooter five days earlier and had no licence nor insurance, ran off through a pond before being arrested.
Later he wrote a letter of apology on Batman paper to his victim, telling her ‘I am not a monster - although I feel like one right now’.
The victim, Emma Jones, needed hospital treatment for injuries including a fractured eye socket following the accident on Ruabon Road in Johnstown, Wrexham, on April 8 at about 3pm.
Williams admitted causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
Sentencing him to 18 months in a young offenders’ institution and disqualifying him from driving for 33 months, a judge branded him “callous” and “without an ounce of compassion” for running away.
Others including an off-duty nurse had stopped to help the young woman.
