'Shameful' pub brawl broke out as man tried 'farcical' kung fu kick
Daily Post
|September 04, 2025
A PUB customer aimed a “farcical” kung fu kick towards a man but missed and fell over sparking a fracas.
Friends thought he had been attacked and trouble flared.
In the melee the “kicker” Nicholas Roberts punched a man. Roberts admitted affray in the incident at The Clwyd Arms in Shotton in 2022.
Yesterday, a judge at Mold Crown Court said it had been “shameful” behaviour. But he said as Roberts, of Riverside Park, Garden City, had kept out of trouble and as he has parental responsibilities he could suspend his 18 month prison sentence for 18 months.
Prosecutor Ryan Rothwell said North Wales Police were called to The Clwyd Arms on Chester Road West in Shotton on December 22, 2022 after getting reports about men fighting.
Officers looked at CCTV footage and saw the defendant Roberts, 43, had come in in a group of about 15 people. The court heard Roberts then approached a man, called Sam Stenner, and aimed a kick at him but lost his balance and fell over.
