New trunk road junction planned to boost Western Gateway growth

KEY BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT SITE HAMPERED BY POOR TRANSPORT LINKS
THE Welsh Government wants to build a new road junction on a key North Wales route to unlock economic growth.
Wrexham is undergoing a revival backed by city status and the spotlight offered by the Hollywood backed success of the football team. A site tipped to take advantage of the boom is the Western Gateway. There are proposals for a multi-million pound investment to develop 8,000sqm of land for businesses.
But the area is hampered by poor transport connections. Welsh Government has been working with Wrexham council to find solutions to the congestion issues - with a new link road plan among the considerations.
And earlier this week Welsh Government confirmed funding to develop a proposal for a new “grade-separated junction” to the south of the existing A483 Junction 4. They will also look at the traffic signals at Junction 5 and at improving bus and cycle links to the site.
