Key issues Parkinson must sort before the end of this window
Daily Post
|January 24, 2026
WREXHAM have just over a week left to make changes to their squad before the winter transfer window closes.
The deadline for the Red Dragons to complete deals falls on February 2, at 7pm.
The North Wales outfit are battling for a Championship playoff spot.
Club officials have confirmed manager Phil Parkinson has been given funds to strengthen his squad as they chase an unprecedented fourth consecutive promotion.
Wrexham have endured a quiet window so far, with no new arrivals at the Racecourse Ground, despite splashing out £33million on signings last summer.
There have been two departures to date, with club captain James McClean leaving to join his hometown club Derry City, while striker Jake Bickerstaff has moved to League Two side Cheltenham on a permanent deal.
It would come as a major surprise if a club with Wrexham’s ambitions failed to make any additions, with the futures of several current squad members also requiring resolution.
Here, we examine what their main aims should be between now and the transfer window deadline.
STRIKER SIGNS
Parkinson has confirmed the club are in active discussions with multiple transfer targets as the January window moves towards its closing stages, while remaining deliberately guarded on specific names.
His comments come amid reports linking the Red Dragons with a remarkable club-record move for teenage striker Sidiki Cherif.
