Malkinson calls for reform of review body
A MAN who spent 17 years in prison for a rape he did not commit has said he feels "vindicated" by the resignation of the chair of the miscarriages of justice review body.
Andrew Malkinson was jailed in 2004 until his conviction was quashed by the Court of Appeal last July.
Announcing her resignation on Tuesday, Criminal Cases Review Commission chairwoman Helen Pitcher claimed the level of scrutiny she faced over her part in the litany of failings in the case was "unfair".
Mr Malkinson said: "She's been complaining she's been made a scapegoat, but I was made a scapegoat.
Scapegoat
"She has been made accountable, actually and I feel vindicated."
