Giant food hall planned for the Custard Factory

A GIANT food hall is set to open in Digbeth, complete with 15 kitchens, an outdoor courtyard, social gaming space, shop and a kids area complete with sand pit.

Birmingham's Custard Factory in Digbeth is already home to many independent shops, cafés and bars

Blend Family, a company with food halls in Sheffield, Salford Quays and London, has announced Alfred Works, set to take over a significant spot in the Custard Factory when it launches in 2026.

Named after Alfred Bird, who invented egg-free custard powder in Digbeth in 1837, Alfred Works will have an extra 10,000 sq ft of indoor-outdoor events space across the River Rea which it says is “designed to bring warmth, play and community into every corner of the experience”.
