GSB rolls out fresh B100bn in soft loans for hard-hit SMEs

Government Savings Bank (GSB) is introducing another 100-billion-baht soft loan package to help restore liquidity for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) affected by the economic slowdown, as the initial 100-billion package is close to depletion.

According to Veerachai Amornta-kolsuwech, first senior executive vice-president and acting president at GSB, Thailand's economy in the second half of the year remains under pressure from both domestic and external factors, particularly slower exports due to US tariffs and declining tourism.

In addition, structural challenges such as rising household and public debt as well as limited access to formal credit continue to weigh on SMEs and communities, he said.
