Yoga instructor Carrie Owerko has spent a lot of time investigating the connection between the body, breath, and mind. She holds certifications as a Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT), Senior Level Certified Iyengar Teacher (CIYT), and Functional Range Conditioning Mobility Specialist (FRCms).

Carrie graduated from the prestigious Neighborhood Playhouse Theater School in New York City and received a BFA in dance and theatre prior to beginning her yoga studies.
Women Fitness got a chance to interact with Carrie Owerko, senior Iyengar yoga instructor and creator of The Playground: Virtual worldwide communities of movement optimists.

You established The Playground, a virtual studio and library where you teach yoga and movement to students all over the world using a clever, amusing, and ever-evolving methodology. How much has it helped women in their lives?
My On Demand library, The Playground, has patrons of all ages. We are especially appreciative of the several women (and males) who are long past the age of 50. They are active individuals who, no of their age, desire to continue doing the things they enjoy. They are extraordinary individuals who have blazed new paths in life and are wise beyond their years. I am extremely appreciative of this neighbourhood. We help one another, and help is a strong thing.

I definitely believe that leading a more sedentary lifestyle can have a significant role in the development of back pain, arthritis, and other common health problems. Simply put, a lot of individuals aren't as active as they once were.
