The Uttar Pradesh state government, in collaboration with the Government of India, has been working for the betterment of women and underprivileged communities at large through various developmental programmes

The Uttar Pradesh (UP) state government has been working on various initiatives, and prominent among them are:
SELF-DEFENCE TRAINING
The Yogi Adityanath government recently launched the Rani Laxmibai Self-Defence Training Program as part of Mission Shakti, alongside the School Chalo Abhiyan. While Mission Shakti is the UP government’s flagship programme aimed at promoting the security, dignity, self-reliance and empowerment of women, the School Chalo Abhiyan was introduced last year with the goal of complete enrollment in lower and upper primary schools. Under the Rani Laxmibai Self-Defence Training Program, about 2 lakh girl students studying in more than 45,000 state-run schools will be given special self-defence training. Group discussions will also be held to make girls aware of eve teasing, cyberbullying, acid attacks, and health awareness.
Under this scheme, girls of 11 to 14 years of age will be trained to become mentally and physically stronger. Apart from self-defence training, the sessions will include exercise, yoga, and cleanliness tips. A special six-day training programme will be organised at the district level for instructors and teachers. The module has been prepared with the guidance of experts from various fields.
TRAINING WOMEN VILLAGE HEADS
In line with the Mission Shakti initiative, the UP government is dedicated to training women village heads to make them self-reliant. The vision is to enhance women’s participation in the comprehensive development of villages.
