Delhi-based entrepreneur Gautam Malik co-founded Jaggery in 2018. A multidisciplinary designer, his introduction to sustainability came circa 2000 during an internship in Auroville while studying architecture. “I learned about alternative technologies for making buildings, and, when I was in that zone with the mindset of experimenting, I was also looking at other facets of life,” he shares.

He went on to study interactive design, earned a Master's in Finance from a university in Memphis, Tennessee, USA, learned filmmaking, and even worked as a UI/UX designer with AOL Time Warner. When he was in New York, he chanced upon a Zurich-based brand at an exhibition that made easy-to-carry items with truck tarpaulins sourced from the German autobahns. Gautam found the idea vividly exciting.
