|January - February 2025
As we step into the new year, one contemplates on the guest expectations, in hotels in the future. With advancing technology and increasing usage of AI the hotels of future are expected to experience several changes. Smart rooms, employment of robots for several services, eco-friendliness are few of the changes that one is likely to see in the hotels of the future. Ashok Malkani tries to fathom some of the changes that are likely to take place, due to the changing demands of the tourists, in the hotel industry in the future.
Over the years hotels have always endeavoured to provide an increasingly personalised and interactive experience for guests. This attempt to provide a more monogrammed and courteous service is expected to continue not only in the new year but in the years to come.
Technology is expected to play an increasingly important role in enabling the hotel industry to meet the rising desires and prerequisites of the guests over the decades. It is believed that AI would be playing an essential part in enabling the hotel industry to meet the needs of the new generation of travellers.
Anant Leekha, General Manager, Novotel Pune, states, "The hospitality industry is witnessing a transformation driven by sustainability, smart technology, and personalisation. Hotels are embracing energy-efficient designs, integrating renewable energy sources, and focusing on waste reduction. Smart technology, such as Al-driven personalisation, contactless check-ins, and loT-enabled devices, is becoming the norm. Internet of Things (IOT) devices are embedded with sensors, software, and network connectivity, which can communicate with each other and with other internet-enabled devices." He adds, "Additionally, the emphasis on offering authentic local experiences and wellness-focused initiatives is shaping the guest experience."
Sabrina Dey, General Manager, ITC Windsor, declares, "The hospitality industry is undergoing a transformation, with a stronger focus on sustainability, technology integration, and personalised guest experiences. From adopting smart technologies to enhancing wellness offerings, hotels are evolving to meet the modern traveller's expectations."
