HAVING been sent into a tailspin by Australia, England are determined to get their Ashes series back on track in Test cricket.
Australia stamped their authority all over the multiformat series 6-0 with three wins from three ODI meetings earlier this month, including a 194-run drubbing at Canterbury.
And following their Ellyse Perry-inspired victory, in which the all-rounder took a career-best 7-22, England skipper Heather Knight is in little doubt her side have some serious work to do as they gear up to lock horns with their rivals in Taunton from Thursday to Sunday.
“Individually and as a team, we need to have some honest conversations and work out what has gone wrong but we can’t feel sorry for ourselves,” said the England captain.
“It hurts a lot but we have to turn this around very quickly and we believe we have the skill and character to do that.”
Knight will be hoping that a format change can help alter her team’s fortunes in the first women’s Test match since the draw between the two sides during the 2017 Ashes series.
