Seeing a need, Jo Keppler ran 130km to raise funds for the Southern Lodestar Foundation breakfast programme on Saturday 6 November 2020.

Pacing The Way To Change

During lockdown in April 2020, I was speaking to Andre Redinger (the founder of Southern Lodestar Foundation). I was disturbed by the fact that so many abused women and children were stuck at home.

We spoke about the children who were not going to school, unable to get a nutritious bowl of porridge. Children come to school even when they are sick just to get a bowl of porridge as its often the only meal they will get until later in the day. I felt a deep desire to help.

After this chat we decided that a fundraiser run in KZN would achieve exposure for the foundation, as well as raise awareness around addiction and abuse that I think many people faced during lockdown.
