The Crockery Memoirs
Better Interiors
|July 2018
Every dinner set created or curated by product designer Tarana Shah Somani under her brand The Crockery Hut is a warm and absorbing story of the old and the new, with an added bonus of style and eccentricity thrown in for good measure.
Nostalgia, colour, style, design and quality… you’ll see all these beautifully amalgamated the moment you lay eyes on the tableware created by product designer Tarana Shah Somani. For Tarana, the love for exquisite crockery (and scrumptious food) goes back to her childhood days. “Back then, it was more about indulging in delicious food and experiencing the beautiful way it was presented. I would enjoy the whole process of watching my mom pen down an elaborate menu, go through her recipe books, and then bring her vision to life on the dining table. She would present food in the most creative and fascinating ways,” explains Tarana. It was during her student days in college when she was away from home that she discovered the joy of cooking, and more so that of presenting the food in beautiful serveware. But it never crossed her mind to indulge in pottery making or ceramic art, and she went on to secure a Business Management with Marketing degree in London.
