Vadodara-based Usine Studio employs a smart play of colours and textures to create a stimulating environment for multinational firm APIDEL, which caters to the comfort of its nocturnal employees.

our world has shrunk into a global village and the tech business is at the forefront of this transformation. One such frontrunner is APIDEL, a multinational firm with offices in the USA, Canada, and India. Their office in India is in Vadodara (an 8,000 natural daylight completely. Wishing to give their employees an office space that would respond to this nocturnal functioning in a comforting yet energizing manner, APIDEL approached the Vadodara-based Usine Studio — headed by architects Yatin Kavaiya and Jiten Tosar — seeking a worthy resolution for their unusual requirement.
“Since the spaces were not going to experience any natural light, we aimed to replicate the diurnal variations through different qualities of artificial lights,” recalls Jiten, while discussing how they designed the spaces for optimum user comfort with a combination of hard and soft lighting. Upon finding that the APIDEL employees were majorly young 20-something, the design team decided to give each of these areas a fresh and youthful buzz. They chose to add a punch of yellow to the overall neutral colour palette to represent sunshine, happiness and warmth.
