For The Love Of Art
Better Interiors
|July 2019
With fashion atelier Amiraah in Kanpur, Idesign Studios curates a retail gem that revives old Indian art forms and gives them pride of place in a modern ambience.
In a world chasing minimalism, interior designer Pooja Gupta has a penchant for classical decor. Her love for details and intricate art is as much a passion as it is a mission. In the last decade or so, she’s taken her fascination for Indian and French aesthetics to build a repertoire of impressive work, designing bungalows, restaurants and commercial spaces — with each project reviving lost or dying art forms. Her love for good design isn’t, however, restricted to spaces alone. Even before Pooja could immerse herself into the world of interior decor, it was the fashion industry that held her captive.

“Names like Manish Malhotra, Sabyasachi, are known for their grandeur and their reach, especially in Kanpur which is a very evolved market and has always been receptive towards designers and brands. They are aware of what they want and this is where we stepped in with our curation. Being from this city, I understood the market and what was needed for a luxury shopping experience,” Pooja tells us when we asked her why she decided to set up atelier Amiraah.
