“I DREAMT OF DOING SOMETHING BIG IN LIFE” fbb Colors Femina Miss India World 2019, Suman Rao, is rather calm and composed when we meet her. She opens up about her strengths, weaknesses, family, and Miss World 2019
After winning the fbb Colors Femina Miss India World 2019, Suman Rao, is leaving no stone unturned to prepare for Miss World 2019, which will take place shortly. The Mumbai girl considers Manushi Chhillar (Miss World 2017) to be her inspiration, and admits to have finally found her platform to make a difference.
Tell us about your background.
I was born in a village near Udaipur and brought up in Mumbai. We’re a typical Mewadi family of seven, which includes my parents, two brothers, and grandparents. My father owns a jewellery shop while my mother is a homemaker. We are a middle class family which aspires to be the best in the world (smiles).
Did you have a different goal when it came to your career?
I always wanted to excel in academics, and am currently pursuing a chartered accountancy course from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Mumbai. Frankly, I dreamt of doing something big in life irrespective of the profession.
What did you do first after you were crowned?
Saw my parents! They were excited; my mother started crying. That’s when it hit me that I’ve achieved something in life.
What, according to you, is your biggest strength and weakness?
My biggest strengths are self-belief, focus and family support. As for weaknesses, I overthink, which sometimes leads to self-doubt.
How are you preparing for Miss World 2019?

"UGH, I HATE HOW I LOOK!"
If the title to this feature is a sentence that goes off in your head every time you stand in front of the mirror, you need to keep reading. No, this is not your run-of-the-mill self-love spiel that will magically change your self-image by the end. It won't. And it definitely won't silence the voices that have told you to fix, hide, and erase parts of you deemed “too much” or “not enough”. What it will do is offer something rare: a reason, however small, to stop waging war with your reflection, and feel a little better about coming home to the person who's been there all along. You.
