Great Deal in the Mid-Range Segment

Following the success of four smartphones, Realme recently marked the debut of a brand new U-series in India with the launch of the Realme U1. While maintaining the company’s viewpoint of offering style and power at affordable prices for the youth, the U-series aims to offer camera-centric phones. This new device is reminiscent of past Realme phones, although it tries to stand out by offering a 25MP selfie camera. Available at a starting price of Rs 11,999, the Realme U1 even goes beyond this by also being the first phone to run the new Helio P70 chipset. Let’s have a look how does it perform.

Design

The all-new Realme device comes in Black and Blue colour variants, both of which feature a glass back and a teardrop notch. It feels very light to hold and is about 8 mm thick. The smartphone houses a plastic frame around the display that bulges out on all four sides, giving the rather flat device a rounded appearance around the edges. The device features the volume rocker and a SIM tray on the left side of the frame, while on the right is the power button. The bottom edge features a micro USB port, a 3.5 mm audio jack and a set of stereo speakers. The phone sports a horizontally-placed dual-camera setup on the back, which has an LED flash next to it. There is a fingerprint sensor slightly below it and towards the bottom is its brand logo.
