Pedalling For Profit

Staying fit and doing their bit for the environment’ seems to be the mantra of many ecoconscious people across the world. And there is a growing tribe of such sensitive people in India too, many of them doing their bit to contribute to the ecosystem by cycling to office instead of adding to the carbon footprint with the use of cars or scooters. Despite their busy corporate life, these professionals have taken up this challenge. Additionally, it helps them stay fit. And therefore, witnessing this increasing demand for cycles, there are certain companies which are now focusing hard on this consumer segment. One of them is Trek, headquartered in Wisconsin, USA, which was the first global cycling brand to enter India, way back in 2007.

“We increasingly hear and talk about air pollution, congestion on the roads, climate change and even lack of time to exercise. Thus, we at Trek believe that bicycles are a simple solution to many of the world’s complex problems,” says Navneet Banka, Country Manager at Trek Bikes. “We worked with a local distributor for 10 years and today have more than 27,000 consumers spread across India. In 2017, we decided to further our commitment to this country by creating a 100% subsidiary of our parent company in India,” he says.
