For those Petrolheads who have spent some time on Facebook or visited the odd car show, you would at some point have seen a sketch pop up of some amazing South African Hot Rod or Muscle Car. We have all seen his work, now we meet the man behind the Art. SA HotRods meets up with Stefan of Stefan’s Auto Art.
I was born in Welkom in the good old Free State in the same year the General Motors started producing my all time favourite car, the 1963 Corvette Stingray with the split rear window. Other dream cars that started life that same year include the Porsche 911, Aston Martin DB5, Alfa Romeo 105/115 Coupes and the ultimate American Pornstar car, the Buick Riviera.
Growing up in the Free State Goldfields was pretty uneventful, but I had the chance to attend regular Oval Track Racing and of cours,e proper racing at the old Goldfields Raceway, gawking at the men and machines of those days. Basil Green, Bobby Oltoff, Ian Scheckter, Tony Viana etc. Firenza CanAms, Capri Peranas and the like was the gallery of posters that graced my bedroom walls at that time.
