New Mobility Newer Challenges

As part of this, the vehicle manufacturers across the world have been working on new mobility options to meet the mandate of zero CO2 emissions from vehicles by 2040.

Technologies keep evolving. The challenge is to develop viable and sustainable solutions. Globally electro-mobility is gaining momentum as it is apparently emission-free. It can be truly such only if its battery is charged with electricity from renewable sources. While it is the role of the Government to ensure clean power sources, the vehicle manufacturers are gearing up to launch hybrid and electric vehicles to limit or eliminate emissions.

At the recently-concluded Frankfurt Motor Show, among the important new models launched was the new Volkswagen ID.3, a compact electric car based on the MEB platform, and the first model of the I.D. Series. This is expected to lead the series of EVs that the company is planning to launch in the coming years. Similarly most of the OEMs in all vehicle categories are developing new mobility solutions. The system suppliers also are active with their new offerings for the new mobility.

This Special Section on ‘New Mobility’ will give a glimpse of how OEMs and suppliers are steering by their focus on new mobility though beset with many challenges.
