Our Bond, Our Travels

An unconditional love, an unspoken communication, and a trust that goes beyond words

My name is Maayan. I’m an Israeli photographer travelling the world with my dog, Chai.

Our special bond started when I adopted Chai from a shelter in Israel six years ago. I’d just left my parents’ house and dreamed of finding a canine companion that would accompany me through that stage of adulthood and share with me the best decade of my life.

On that first day together, we made a pact. I’d teach him how to behave in the human world. If he’d listen to me, and allow me to trust him completely, I would in return take him everywhere with me and try to give him the best life a dog could ask for. Neither of us knew how far that pact would take us. During our first years together, Chai came with me everywhere. He sat by my side in my university classes. He accompanied me to every job I had. I literally never left the house without him and very quickly became known as the girl with the dog.
