Autumn Deluge Of Yorkies
Cage & Aviary Birds
|February 14, 2018
When STEVE DOMINEY was invited to judge Turkey’s Edremit Yorkshire Canary Club show in October last year, he couldn’t pass up the chance to enjoy the sight of more than 1,000 Yorkies on the bench... and a trip on the local mayor’s yacht went down well, too!

CANARIES
DUE to the world record entry it achieved in 2016, the Edremit Yorkshire Canary Club show was moved to a new venue of Atatürk Spor Salonu in Güre, which is the home of the local basketball team, on October 21-22, 2017. The main court provided an increase in floor area and first-floor areas for the trade and bird sales.
For this show I was joined by UK judge Bob Pepper and Italian judge Danielle Corso. The entry was unable to match the previous year’s event because of a late moult for many birds. However, a total of 1,510 Yorkshire canaries still graced the benches for us three judges to compare. With some classes in excess of 200 birds, judging was completed within nine hours and the entry provided some testing classes.
