In this issue

Sri Lanka is an island where the ingenuity of the people merges with developed infrastructure, innovative technologies, and proud history. The country has transformed into a dynamic and captivating land with a modern and vibrant persona.
The mayor of Madrid dreamsofauniquecity: welcoming and innovative in its urban plan.
The CEO of the Dutch Design Foundation and director of Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven speaks about the social role of design, a conceptual tool to change the world for the better.
So far in Domus 2019, we’ve often repeated the mantra that everything is urbanism. Architecture and landscape design, obviously, have huge implications for urbanism, but what about design at smaller scales? These five items, all of which were displayed at Milan Design Week last month, exemplify what it means to think about urban issues in product design. They display a range of different types of urban thinking: some obvious, such as attempts to make urban mobility more sustainable; others more complex, such as a product with a business model that gives rural villages access to global markets.
