Sunday Sun UK
|November 09, 2025
A FAMILY has paid tribute to a “kind and caring” man who “saw the best in everyone” after he died in a crash.
Lewis Smith, 33, died along with a 25-year-old female passenger in the crash in Ferryhill last Saturday.
The incident happened at around 1.40am on the A167 near the BP petrol station, Durham Constabulary said. The woman who died has yet to be named.
The collision is understood to have involved a white Ford Ka, and police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Despite the efforts of emergency services, both Lewis, who lived in Newton Aycliffe, and his passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. Now his family has paid tribute.
