रामायण साहित्यों में विज्ञान
वैमानिक-शास्त्र में चार प्रकार के विमानों का वर्णन है। ये काल के आधार पर विभाजित हैं। इन्हें तीन श्रेणियों में रखा गया है। इसमें श्मंत्रिका' श्रेणी में वे विमान आते हैं, जो सतयुग और त्रेतायुग में मंत्र एवं सिद्धियों से संचालित व नियंत्रित होते थे। दूसरी श्रेणी श्तांत्रिका' है, जिसमें तंत्र शक्ति से उड़ने वाले विमानों का ब्यौरा है। इसमें तीसरी श्रेणी में कलयुग में उड़ने वाले विमानों का ब्यौरा भी है, जो इंजन (यंत्र) की ताकत से उड़ान भरते यानी भारद्वाज ऋषि ने भविष्य की उड़ान प्रौद्योगिकी क्या होगी, इसका अनुमान भी अपनी दूरदृष्टि से लगा लिया था। इन्हें कृतक विमान कहा गया है। कुल २५ प्रकार के विमानों का इसमें वर्णन है।
