The future of our coastal fish resources rests in the mouths of those who eat seafood. Whether you are a fisherman or -woman, or whether you buy your seafood at restaurants or the local fish shop, you are ultimately the end users of our coastal fishes and you have a moral obligation to participate in conservation efforts of our fish stocks.

Turning inland … we are left speechless by a government plan to allow fishing within certain areas of South Africa’s oldest marine protected area along the Tsitsikamma coast. To say the least, this has sparked a massive outcry from marine experts, who say it is “highly irregular” and could have a devastating impact on fish stocks. Read more on page 8.
