Our second annual Charlotteans of the Year includes eight people or organizations who made Charlotte better in 2015. They range from community heroes (Cops & Barbers program) to sports stars (Jeff Gordon) to folks who had the bright idea to put art in an old tire store (Skyline Artists in Residence). All of this years winners add to the rich flavor of our city, and we’ll be bringing them together for our annual Charlotteans of the Year luncheon in December. This month, we also have our annual holiday gift guide, which includes more than 130 all-local gifts for everybody on your shopping list. Other stories include a list of the best brunches in town, the harrowing tale of a local college swimmer from the Ukraine, and a look at which charities to which you should be donating this winter.
