Well, we finally have our answer, TGI Nation. After weeks and even months of speculation, our question was finally answered. Dave Gettleman avoided the “shiny new toy” in Clemson’s Isaiah Simmons and drafted a “Hog Molly” who will eventually (God willing) protect Daniel Jones’ blind side for the next ten to fifteen years.

ROUND TWO Xavier McKinney • S • Alabama

The beauty, well, perhaps the term “curse” is more appropriate, of a team who has missed the playoffs in seven of the last eight years, is that it’s almost impossible to guess what direction the team will go when it comes to the NFL Draft. It was abundantly clear that the Giants needed a facelift on the offensive line as well as impact players on the defensive side of the ball. But an edge rusher or two was thought to be the priority, not safety.

ROUND THREE Matt Peart • OT • Connecticut

The Giants added their second offensive tackle of the draft when they selected UConn’s Matt Peart in the third round. General manager Dave Gettleman decided to go all in on fixing the offensive line, as he used three of his first five picks on men who will hopefully be protecting Daniel Jones and opening holes for Saquon Barkley for years to come.

The Giants added another young player to their secondary when they selected UCLA cornerback Darnay Holmes in the fourth round of the draft. General manager Dave Gettleman is proving that he recognizes the importance of rebuilding this unit by bringing in young players.
