In this issue

It’s just so amazing. We meet many people everyday and we never quite realise that some of them lead fascinating lives, with amazing stories to share.

For this first issue of Inspire, we had the wonderful opportunity to interview a man who makes it his life’s mission to embark on as many challenging adventures as possible – ranging from tropical inner Borneo to the freezing Arctic circle in Norway - all by pedalling his bicycle. He lives out the saying of living life to the fullest, inspiring us all to challenge our own limits.

And we ride on the new fitness wave that has hit Asia. How about grooving to the beat of Psy’s Gangnam-style horse dance or doing yoga, while being suspended from the ceiling? You’ll be inspired to keep fit with these and other fun ways to stay in shape in our section, In Shape.

Talking about being suspended, we explore how non-astronauts can suspend themselves in space, with a new type of travel - space tourism. One of our writers even muses about how life on the moon would be like, with sportsmen playing basketball with hoops six times higher than usual, due to zero gravity!

You will also read about how beauty may not always be a blessing, as we explore the role of beauty pageants and the ugly side of plastic surgery. From enhancing our face, we move to enhancing our walls – by drawing on them - as we celebrate the amazing world of street art. You will also journey with us to a new world - an ancient civilisation in South America - as our globetrotting travel writer intrigues you with her exotic travels.

!nspire is akin to a ‘tonic’ to inspire lower-secondary students to love reading, and to be inspired to better themselves. The slew of interesting articles that cover a range of topics in each issue provide students with more than just entertainment, serving to tickle their intellectual curiosity and kindle a love for lifelong reading and learning.
