Familiarity with the Gnani boosts progress on the path to moksha

Chit (Subtle component of vision and knowledge in the inner functioning instrument called antahkaran) became impure due to ignorance (agnan— ignorance of the Self). Until the chit becomes pure how can one experience Atma—the Self? The solution to purify the chit is to have familiarity with the Gnani Purush. The Gnani Purush is the One who has experienced the Soul completely. He does not have a single parmanu (indivisible particle of an atom) of kashaya: anger-pride-deceit-greed, vishaya—sexual intent or predilection, mamatva—‘my-ness’ ahamkar— ego. It is a very rare opportunity to become familiar with such a Gnani Purush. When the vision of the worldly self changes with the help of the Gnani Purush, one’s wrong belief gets fractured and the right belief sets in. One becomes familiar with ‘swa—the Self’ and experiences ‘I am Shuddhatma—pure Soul’. After getting such an excellent opportunity what is left to do? One has to follow the five Agnas and understand the Gnan as much as possible by staying close to the Gnani. Just as the Gnani’s introduction is necessary to attain the Gnan—Self-realization, it is also necessary to have the familiarity with satsang. All the karma become weak through satsang and it becomes easy to follow the Agnas.
