Magazine Description
In this issue
It was artist Paul Klee who famously said ‘A line is a dot that went for a walk’. This issue, we are doing exactly that: we are going for a walk. We are going to try and follow the line and see where it takes us, and the place where it stops. This issue on ‘Lines’ we primarily look at two aspects of the line: one as a beginning and ending for an idea or thought to exist, and, two as that which gives us a sense of place from where dialogue can begin. We look at artistes who engage with the idea of lines less as a division or a polarity – that which we cannot cross – and more as a necessary nuance – that which we need to be able to cross. This walk isn’t about separation but about intersection, and the many frequencies of communication that exist within that place of meeting.
