INDIA’S CAPITAL MARKETS are aflutter again, with fresh momentum
building up in initial public offerings (IPOs) across sectors and investor
categories. Between May and July 2025 alone, more than Rs 55,000
crore has been mobilised through public issues and a robust pipeline
suggests that fundraising could edge towards Rs 2 lakh crore by the end
of FY2026. Market watchers say this has been the most vibrant period
in equity fund raising since the 2021 listing surge, only this time the
foundations seem stronger and more diversified.
Several forces are shaping this upswing. Steady GDP growth, buoyant
inf lows into systematic investment plans (SIP), renewed foreign
investor interest and the growing clout of domestic institutions, have
all converged to create a fertile ground for listings. Regulatory reforms,
from faster approval timelines to enhanced disclosure norms, have
not only eased the path for companies but also deepened market trust.
This has led to unprecedented participation from Tier II and Tier III
investors, aided by UPI-enabled bidding and greater financial literacy.
Many smaller issues have experienced oversubscription levels that
would have been unimaginable a few years ago.
