KILLING Eve star Jodie Comer may have mastered a Russian accent for her iconic role as assassin Villanelle but she loves using her native Scouse voice most of all.

Jodie: Proud to fly the flag for Scousers

The award-winning actress, who grew up in Childwall, Liverpool, revealed she felt she had to change her accent when she first started out.

Jodie, 30, said of the charming psychopathic killer that made her a worldwide name in the hit BBC series: “Villanelle would have suited being a Scouser. The Russian accent was needed to help with the transformation though.

“I used to think I needed to change my voice to get away from myself but now I don’t think that’s true. So I’ve really enjoyed acting with my own accent lately.”

She did so for her role as a carer in the Channel 4 pandemic drama Help, with fellow Liverpudlian Stephen Graham.
