Health trackers: The pebble or the pillow?
PCQuest
|May 2025
From just another strap around your wrist to a button on your shoe—wearables have come a long way. Today, they are laden with sensors, Al, multi-source data, personal advice, and a lot of style. But the big question remains: do they really help you stay healthy and sleep better?
All that remains to happen now is a lullaby. Everything else is pretty much here. Health wearables, especially sleep-health ones, are now intelligent and empathetic, personalized and real-time, intuitive and interconnected.
But does all this magic simply gild the lilyor actually make it bloom better? That's still up for debate. Especially when it comes to sleep, a health issue more complex than just cracking a few data puzzles.
Wearable Wonders - The New Pillow-Talk of the Town
This year's MWC at Barcelona saw a lot of new and shiny stuff on that bed. Specially with AI and sensors turning into not-so-strange bed-fellows. We saw demonstrations and peeks offered by all sorts of players there. From Lenovo Group Limited, Samsung Electronics Co., and Intel Corporation, neural interface and gesture-based control solutions; to the Mudra Link wristband from Al-based wearable gesture control technology player Wearable Devices Ltd.; to instant heart-rate readings, ECG capabilities in forms like the Honor Ultra watch, Xiomi Watch S4 as well as fitness tracking devices from Tecno, Mibro etc.
