Apple has added inline replies to RCS conversations in the second beta of iOS 27, bringing iPhone-to-Android messaging closer to feature parity with modern chat platforms.

IOS 27 BRINGS ONE OF MESSAGES’ MOST REQUESTED RCS FEATURES

The update allows users to respond directly to specific messages inside an RCS conversation, making cross-platform chats easier to follow when multiple topics are being discussed at once.

imageWhile the addition may appear minor compared with larger AI or interface updates, it addresses one of the most noticeable gaps that remained after Apple adopted Rich Communication Services. For millions of users who communicate regularly with Android owners, the change improves one of the most common everyday interactions on the iPhone.

imageThe feature arrives as Apple continues refining its implementation of RCS following the technology's rollout across the Messages app.

A SMALL FEATURE WITH A BIG IMPACT

Inline replies have become standard across modern messaging services. Apps such as WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal, and Slack have long allowed users to attach responses to specific messages, preserving context even in busy group discussions.

Without that capability, conversations can become confusing when several people are discussing different topics simultaneously. Users often need to copy text, reference previous comments manually, or rely on timing to indicate which message they are addressing.
