The world is still struggling under the impact of the pandemic due to Covid-19 for the last three years.
The Vedanta Vaccine

SWAMI VEDANISHTHANANDA

The casualties have been very high in number. However, the scenario has indeed changed with the passing of time since the virus caught us unawares and now we seem to be better equipped to face the onslaught of the virus with the various vaccines at hand.

The effect of the virus has been multi-layered. Lives have been lost, the bereaved had irreparable losses of their loved ones, inter-human relationships have faced various challenges, both due to the proximity of the family members in the boundaries of their homes and for the remoteness enforced among people in the larger society. Education of children has suffered a tremendous setback, especially for those who do not have ready access to the technology that supports the online mode of education. And common to all, there is a fear in the minds of most of us. Will the pandemic really end soon or is there another variant to pop up in the near future?

Science has come forward to help us combat the virus through the various vaccines. But, will these vaccines actually remove our fear about the uncertainty of the unknown future? The concept of the vaccines in medical science, put in a simple layman’s way is to induce an inbuilt immunity of the body against the invading microbes. This introduces us to the real strength that fights against the diseases. It is the inbuilt immunity in our body. Swami Vivekananda says in his lecture ‘Work and Its Secret’ delivered at Los Angeles, California on January 4, 1900; ‘No disease can come to me until the body is ready; it does not depend alone on the germs, but upon a certain predisposition which is already in the body. We get only that for which we are fitted.’
