Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences Dr Jitendra Singh on Saturday said India is steadily developing indigenous solutions to address global health challenges through gene therapy, nuclear medicine and other emerging technologies, positioning itself as a global hub for cutting-edge healthcare innovation.
On the eve of Doctors' Day, Dr Singh, himself a noted physician and diabetologist, highlighted the growing importance of precision medicine and personalised healthcare in shaping the future of medical practice.
Addressing a special Doctors’ Day Conclave, the minister said India's vast genetic diversity, heterogeneous disease profile and rapidly expanding scientific capabilities provide an unprecedented opportunity to develop "Indian data for Indian treatment for Indian patients," while also contributing affordable and globally relevant healthcare solutions.
Dr Singh said healthcare is entering a transformative era in which treatment will increasingly be tailored to an individual's genetic profile, lifestyle and environmental factors.
