Dalbeattie High School teacher Inga Stewart Blamire was given a hero's welcome when she returned to class after taking on the London Marathon.

School's cheers for marathon teacher

Pupils gave the popular drama teacher a well-deserved guard of honour to celebrate her success and said they “couldn't be prouder” of her.

Inga competed in Sunday's 26.2-mile race in memory of her late mum, Mary and to raise funds for Marie Curie - a charity the 38-year-old holds close to her heart for the support they gave during “an incredibly difficult time” 10 years ago.
