The entire nation felt the pain

I won't lie to you, watching Bafana Bafana’s opening match against Mexico was tough.
The disappointment I felt sitting there, watching the boys struggle to find their rhythm, took me right-back to some of the hardest moments I’ve experienced wearing the Green and Gold. We didn’t get the result we wanted, and I know the entire nation felt that pain. Social media was abuzz with criticism, the Monday morning experts came out in full force, and suddenly everyone had a solution to our problems. But here’s what I want to say to every South African reading this: we need to rally behind our boys now more than ever. This is not the time to abandon ship. This is not the time to write obituaries for our World Cup campaign. This is the time to show what it means to be South African - to show ubuntu, to show heart, to show that we stand together in the difficult moments. The group stages are not over. We have Czechia coming up, and I genuinely believe that if we approach that match with the right mentality, we can get the maximum points we need to progress. Yes, Czechia showed in their opening match that they're an aerial threat. Their set pieces are dangerous, and their physicality will test us. But let me tell you something I've learned from years of playing at the highest level - every team has strengths, and every team has weaknesses. The key is staying true to who we are as South African footballers. We have pace. We have technical ability. We have flair that can unlock any defence on our day. We need to play our game, not get drawn into playing theirs. We need to believe in our identity — that beautiful, attacking football that has made South African teams respected across the continent and beyond. Let me take you back to 2010 for a moment,

Every team wants to win
In Part Two of our interview with RB Leipzig's Managing Director for Sport, Marcel Schäfer, we go deeper, exploring how RB Leipzig uses artificial intelligence and data tools to scout players globally, the philosophy behind selling their biggest stars, the irreplaceable role of experienced players like Peter Gulacsi, and what made Leipzig confident enough to spend €20 million on an 18-year-old who was playing college football just a year before. Schäfer explains to Soccer Laduma's Delmain Faver how the Bundesliga side RB Leipzig uses data and human intelligence to scout the world and why selling your best players can actually be a strength.
