DEVELOPERS MAY GO ELSEWHERE IF CHALLENGE AGAINST PROJECT IS WON
SOLAR farm developers could be put off Lincolnshire if councils win their legal challenge against a landmark project, the county's leader says.
Lincolnshire County Council and North Kesteven District Council are currently seeking a judicial review against the Springwell Solar Farm.
The renewable energy project - the biggest in the UK to date - would cover the equivalent of 1,700 football pitches near Scopwick, between Lincoln and Sleaford.
The government says its ability to power 180,000 homes is much-needed, but local campaigners feel it's taking up too much farmland.
County council leader Councillor Sean Matthews says a court victory could help stop other huge ‘nationally significant’ projects in future.
