Family joins heartfelt tribute

Captain Kleinhans arrived at the school hall accompanied by Brigadier Brian Miller and Captain Wayne Koeberg.

Believing he was attending a routine meeting, he was surprised when he was handed over to his wife, Bronwyn Kleinhans, and their daughter, Leah, and realised the evening was in his honour.Local councillor Ashley Potts also paid tribute, describing Captain Kleinhans as firm and disciplined, yet possessing a rare ability to steer young people away from gangsterism.

"We salute him for his commitment and trust that God will grant him many more years. He has put his life on the line for the community of Mitchell’s Plain," said Mr Potts, adding that he was proud to see a police officer who has honoured his calling.
