CITY'S LONG JUMP STAR HANDED SURPRISE TEAM ENGLAND NOD FOR GLASGOW COMPETITION IN HER FIRST SEASON NOT SPLIT WITH UNIVERSITY STUDIES
-
NOTTINGHAM long jumper Molly Palmer is keen to make the most of her ‘surprise’ call-up for her first Commonwealth Games.
The 22-year-old from Ruddington is in the first season in which she is able to fully concentrate on her career in athletics after graduating from Loughborough University last year.
Palmer pulled on a Team GB vest at senior level for the first time in March when she competed in the World Indoor Championships in Torun, Poland, where she finished a creditable 10th with a best jump of 6.49m.
She bettered that by 1cm as she came second in June's UK Championships in Birmingham, but she didn’t think she had done enough to be selected by Team England.
