With new restaurants popping up more frequently in North Goa than Koopa Troopas in a Super Mario game, it's hard to find places that are truly distinct and worth deviating from the favourites you've found over time. Assa House, a lovely little French bistro in Assagao, is worth that detour. Helmed by chef Alexis Gielbaum (with the pedigree of Soufflé S'il Vous Plaît and Slink & Bardot under his belt) presents a menu of authentic French treats; think onion soup, slow-cooked lamb confit, gratin dauphinois, and truffle tagliatelle.

The insignia of a bar destined for success in the capital is how well it can do with zero press, and Butter Room's cachet despite launching quietly in the night a couple of months ago-is testament to that. The multi-cuisine party spot has fast become the best place at Delhi's buzzy Epicuria for a great drink and a raucous night. Tuck into meze, sushi, and bar bites as complements to your cocktails-well-mixed, potent, and delightfully unpretentious.
