Legendary tennis star Evonne Goolagong’s inspiring story is told in a new Australian drama...
GOOLAGONG Sat, 9pm & 9.50pm, BBC4 Drama (box set, iPlayer)
Long before trailblazing icons like Martina Navratilova and Serena Williams, Aboriginal Australian tennis player Evonne Goolagong took the women’s game by storm.
Between 1971 and 1980, she won seven Grand Slam singles titles, including Wimbledon twice, while dealing with racial prejudice and devastating sexual advances from her coach.
