Holi Beyond Colours

New buds swayed gently on the trees, and a light chill mingled with the sweet fragrance of flowers filling the air. The entire forest was busy preparing for Holi. Shersingh supervised the arrangements with great enthusiasm as he was anxious to make sure that everything went according to plan.

“Jumpy, how are the Holi preparations going?” Shersingh asked Jumpy Monkey.

“They are going very well, Shersingh. Like every year, I have told Blacky Bear to prepare organic colours,” Jumpy replied, jumping excitedly.

Two days later, Shersingh called Blacky Bear.

“Blacky, are all the preparations complete?” he asked.

“Yes, Shersingh. This time, I have prepared many shades of organic colours. Red, pink, blue, green and yellow. Each colour is unique in its own way,” Blacky replied, smiling.

Shersingh’s eyes sparkled upon hearing this.

“That’s what makes Holi in our Champakvan unlike any other. Guests from other forests are coming this time, so we can’t afford any mistakes. Everything must be flawless,” he replied.

“Don’t worry. All the colours will be delivered to the Holi ground on time,” Blacky assured him.

“And Chikabella will make plenty of gujiyas, while Jumbo Elephant will prepare tasty lentil fritters,” Jumpy added excitedly.
