BINNI CLIMBS THE TREE
Champak
|November Second 2025
One Sunday, a thick fog had covered the forest since the morning, making the cold day even worse.
Binni goat and Bruno bear were both very troubled by it. They were the captains of their respective football teams. That day, their teams were to play an exciting match on the sports field.
Fortunately, a strong wind then blew through the forest, carrying away the dense fog. As the mist cleared, the gentle warmth of the sun reached the ground.
With the sunshine spreading, the children were filled with renewed enthusiasm. As soon as referee Tobey bulldog blew the whistle, the match began.
Right at the beginning of the match, Jojo giraffe gave such a powerful kick that the football flew high into the air and landed far outside the field. What to do now?
Everyone began searching for the football, but it was nowhere to be found. Tired after a long search, they returned to the field. There was no spare football, and the match had been so thrilling. Everyone sat worried and disappointed.
“Hey friends, look at that tall pine tree reaching up to the sky. I'll climb to its top and see. Maybe from up there I can spot the football!” said Binni.
“Yes, yes,” exclaimed Bruno. “That’s a good idea.” “But Binni, how will you climb a tree? You’re a goat, and goats don’t know how to climb trees!” said Bobo horse in surprise.
“Who says I can’t climb a tree? I learnt it from Monty!” said Binni, and everyone burst out laughing. Bobo horse, embarrassed, also started smiling.
“But we’ve never seen you climb a tree. Let’s see for ourselves how you do it!” said Jojo, teasing him.
Hearing that, Binni became eager to prove herself. The others joined in, cheering and teasing, “Yes, yes! Let’s see how high Binni can climb!”
By then, Binni had fallen entirely for their challenge.
“Don’t underestimate me. I can climb right up to the top of this tree!” she said, walking towards the pine tree.
