Suspected shooter carried manifesto raging at insurers and big business

THE bold assassin who gunned down UnitedHealthcare’s CEO in cold blood and then skillfully evaded police for five suspenseful days was allegedly a corporate America–hating extremist, caught with a three-page manifesto railing against big business and health insurers, GLOBE can sensationally reveal!

Although suspect Luigi Mangione’s true twisted motives are still being dissected by cops, the 26-year-old accused killer has already provided a glimpse into his unhinged rationale. He carried with him a handwritten document laying bare his disgust with the American healthcare industry, noting that as UnitedHealthcare’s market capitalization has grown, American life expectancy has dwindled.

Such companies, he wrote, “continue to abuse our country for immense profit because the American public has allowed them to get away with it.

“Frankly,” he added, “these parasites had it coming.”

Disturbing surveillance video from Dec. 4 shows the killer hiding in plain sight across the street from the New York Hilton Midtown, where UnitedHealthcare was hosting its annual investor conference.

When 50-year-old CEO Brian Thompson appears outside the doors, the suspect shoots him at least twice, according to cops and shocked bystanders.

Following the shooting, sources say the assassin coolly blended into the city’s bustling hordes, fleeing the scene by bicycle and then taking a taxi to the Port Authority bus terminal, where he caught a Greyhound bus out of town.

Mangione was apprehended nearly 300 miles away in Altoona, Pa., on the morning of Dec. 9 after an eagle-eyed McDonald’s employee recognized him from a police-circulated surveillance video image.
