The Centre has circulated the Draft National Water Metro Policy, 2024 for inter-ministerial consultations while advancing plans to introduce water metro services in 18 cities across the country.

Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal chaired a review meeting on the proposed rollout. Guwahati will be among the cities covered in Phase I.
