From emergency preparedness to business continuity, facility management teams are now playing a bigger role in protecting assets, people and performance.

The FM industry is a critical enabler of modern productivity, supporting the safety, performance and efficiency of built infrastructure.
Facilities managers oversee systems such as plumbing, electrical equipment, landscaping, energy allocation, security, and cleanliness, ensuring that facilities operate seamlessly. Their role becomes even more critical in fast-growing economies such as India, where large-scale smart-city investments, sustainability regulations, and rapid technology adoption have made the FM function a strategic pillar of national growth.
Industry reports estimate that the FM market will grow from USD 23.86 billion in 2026 to USD 42.27 billion by 2031 at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 12.12 per cent. This is occurring alongside rising ESG expectations, climate resilience priorities and the increasing digitalisation of buildings, transforming how facilities are managed.
Disruptions today can take on many forms, ranging from earthquakes and fire hazards to cyberattacks, supply chain disruptions and geopolitical tensions. In the Middle East, additional pressures such as extreme heat, energy demand and climate adaptation requirements further increase operational risks.
Thus risk management becomes a strategic imperative. During emergencies, FM teams often provide the first operational response ensuring safety and operational continuity.
